What is Coeliac disease?
 
Coeliac disease is an autoimmune disorder where the ingestion of gluten causes damage to the small intestine. Gluten is a protein commonly found in wheat, barley, and rye. The disease affects approximately 1% of the population, and people with coeliac disease must avoid gluten entirely to prevent damage to their intestines.

Symptoms of coeliac disease can vary intensely from person to person but can include bloating, abdominal or stomach pain and fatigue.

This meant ensuring our product range was marked safe for people with coeliac disease to consume, with the exception of limited edition product development which was always marked clear on its ingredients.

We believe that our customers deserve to know what they are consuming, and that's why we leave out preservatives and use locally sourced ingredients as much as possible. Our beef products are a good source of protein, and we pride ourselves on providing healthy and delicious options for individuals, couples, and families. A prime example of this is our Wholefoods Burger + Meatball range which we released in September last year, in collaboration with NZ Celebrity Chef, Michael Van de Elzen.
