Frequently Asked Questions

As a rough guide: a 1/4 beast (48kg) will fit in a small chest freezer or the freezer drawer of a standard fridge-freezer; a 1/2 beast (96kg) needs a mid-size chest freezer (around 200–300L); and a 3/4 or whole beast (144–192kg) is best suited to a full size chest freezer (300L+).

Packaging it in smaller cuts (500g or 1kg packs, selected via the ‘Choose Packing Options’ button) makes it easier to pack efficiently and slot into gaps.

Properly stored in a freezer at -18°C or below, our beef will keep well for up to 12 months without a noticeable drop in quality. For best flavour and texture, we recommend working through cuts within this timeframe, and always defrosting safely in the fridge rather than at room temperature.

You have the option to customise your pack size by clicking the ‘Choose Packing Options’ button. From there you can choose how you'd like everything packed: as it comes, in 500g packs, or in 1kg packs - so it suits your household, your menu and freezer space.

Yes you can. Use the small ‘+’ button to the right hand side of the cut. You can then select which option suits you best by unticking and then ticking the preference. You can add extra premium cuts to your bulk buy order  by using the ‘Beef Up’ option (this is found by clicking the ‘Choosing Packing Options’ button). You can also customise your pack size at the same time.

For each bulk buy purchase, shipping is free. Shipping is included and your order is delivered direct to your door, provided you're at a non-rural delivery (non-RD) address.

Yes of course. However, we're only able to deliver to one address, but we can help split and pack the order for two (or more) families to share. Because this needs a bit of extra coordination, it's best to give our team a call to arrange it after you book online.

Each beast size is broken down by cut, shown as a percentage of the total weight, so you can see exactly what you're getting before you order. For example, a 1/4 beast (48kg) includes Eye Fillet (2.08%), Rib-Eye/Scotch Fillet (4.17%), Sirloin (4.69%), Rump (5.73%), Flank (6.25%), Topside (8.33%), Blade (7.29%), Chuck (7.29%), Brisket (5.21%), Silverside (8.33%), Shin (12.5%), Rib Meat (5.21%) and Trim (22.92%) - with trim, blade, chuck and shin typically going into mince, sausages and diced beef. The same cut ratios scale up for the 1/2, 3/4 and whole beast options.

Yes - buying in bulk locks in a lower price per kg than buying cuts individually week to week. Based on a comparison against major NZ supermarket prices, a 1/4 beast can save up to $270, a 1/2 beast up to $580, a 3/4 beast up to $900, and a whole beast up to $1,200, alongside less food waste since every cut in the animal is used.
