We’re so pleased to announce our new local partnership with Meat The Need NZ.
Meat the Need enables farmers to donate livestock and milk to feed those families in need. We feel very privileged to support such an incredible cause, where we will help feed people throughout Taranaki who are struggling with food insecurity. We'll do this by supplying 5,200 meat meals over the next 12 months, including meatballs, patties and sausages.
With the additional support, Meat the Need can donate to two more foodbanks in the Taranaki region, donating much needed mince and milk to nine food banks and community organisations.
Farmer-led charity Meat the Need is the only organisation in the country to donate a consistent supply of mince and milk to those who need it most.
General Manager Zellara Holden said they are over the moon to welcome Green Meadows Beef to the Meat the Need whanau.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Carey family. Their commitment to give back to their community and nourish those in need with their locally grown protein, is truly remarkable."
Zellara said the partnership was invaluable and would reduce pressure for the charity’s services locally.
“The demand for our services is currently unprecedented with more than 100 food banks and community organisations on our waiting list so this means we may be able to look to other organisations in Taranaki who need us,” she said.
As a business, we're truly honoured and proud to be able to give back to our community since founding the family business in 2012. At our heart, we are a paddock to plate business. This meant choosing to partner with Meat the Need was a no-brainer. Being able to support foodbanks from the farm and through the value chain is excellent and an initiative we were eager to support.
Our Co-founder Nick said "we wanted to support our local community and target our contributions to those who need it most. In the current economic conditions, ensuring those who need some support have access to good quality protein to fuel their families is important to us. We know partnering with Meat the Need means our donations go to families in need and as we're a family business, it makes sense to grow healthy families through donating our 100% grass-fed protein."
Knowing our contributions have allowed Meat the Need to support two more food banks in the Taranaki region was a privilege, and we feel extremely thankful to be a part of it.
